Common questions

Do I need to create an account?

No. There is nothing to sign up for. iCloud sync and shared libraries use the iCloud account already signed in on your device.

Are my photos sent to AI?

The official AI is used only after you agree. The app asks before it sends anything to it for the first time, and you can turn this off at any time in Settings > Privacy. Without AI, you can still record items by typing their names.

Can I use my own AI model?

Yes. You can connect any OpenAI compatible endpoint with your own API key. Requests then go straight from your device to that endpoint.

Can other people see my records?

Only the people you invite. Turn a library into a shared library and invite people with a QR code; everyone in it sees the same records, kept in sync through iCloud. Your other libraries stay private.

Does “Put Where” work without an internet connection?

Most of the app works offline: browsing, editing and local keyword search all work without a connection. An internet connection is needed for AI photo recognition, AI search and keyword generation, and for iCloud sync or shared libraries.

Where is my data stored?

Photos, notes and location history live on your device. If you turn on iCloud sync, they are also stored in your own iCloud and stay in sync across your devices. A shared library is shared with the members you invite through iCloud.

Which languages does “Put Where” support?

Currently English, Japanese and Simplified Chinese. Support for most major languages is on the way.

Is “Put Where” available on Android?

The Android app is still in development.
